I deleted my Java development kit because it wouldnt update and now my Word documents saved to desktop are gone?

Did you delete it or uninstall it? If you deleted it and also deleted other stuff there are a few file recovery programs. But the more you do after the deletes the less you will be able to get back. If possible acquire the recovery program on another computer and put it on a flash drive and run it from there. Good luck you will need it.
