is this normal?

so first time i got fingered was for a second and i flinched and pulled away cuz i wasn't wet enough so it burned... my boyfriend has tried to finger me like twice after this. one of those times being tonight and it's like he can't do it like he can't find the hole or get it in. i have a not big labia but it does stick out and i feel like my vagina is like deep i guess if that makes sense so this is making it harder idk what else it could be. i was being paranoid after hanging with him tonight and put my own finger in to see if it would work i guess and it did ... but i had to put my finger at a certain angle to get it to go in and there was like a ball of skin idk towards the entrance and felt very tight around my finger... so i guess what i'm asking is, is my vagina the problem or is he just cuz he's inexperienced? :/ please help
