Wearing chokers in Japan....?

So today I bought a choker and it's really pretty, I can't wait to wear it.. but the thing is, my sister just told me what a choker symbolizes (if you don't know google it). I'm going to Japan and I'm going to be meeting people and I really don't want them thinking of me in that way, if I wear a choker in front of them. Is what a choker is symbolistic of known in Japan? Like, will people think they can 'mess' with me if I wear one? I dont know, I don't want to be like a bad influence on my japanese friends.. what would her parents think?! Yeah i dont know.. thoughts?

If you like it, WEAR IT, why would you care what I say, or THEY SAY?

People judge, because they're not savvy about that country, or what people's good/bad taste are.

So, go for it, and teach them WHAT FASHION SAVVY is in your country!

I've had Japanese classmates, when I was taking Hospitality & Tourism Management . . . they're new in the USA, and won't eat the foods @ a convention center. I have to taste it FOR THEM, and if I liked it, I tell them, then they taste it. They're learning, and I'm teaching them. I was INFLUENCING them. That's a positive thing, ain't it?

So, go there, & TEACH THEM, INFLUENCE THEM, what your likes & dislikes.

(When you go there, they wouldn't even know and are not taught about Pearl Harbor - until they visit Hawaii, then they KNOW for the 1st time).

Source(s): I love visiting other countries, that's the only way I can learn about THEM.

It can symbolize whatever but it's a trend right now and I'm Japanese and no one would say anything. You'll find other girls there dressed in all sorts of ways. I promise you'll find chokers and it's all just fashion.

High heels used to be worn by men loooooong time ago then women started to wear it. The men didn't like it and stopped while women kept wearing higher heels. At some point women were criticized that was for men but now look. Don't let old stigmas dictate what you want to do.
