Why are most Protestants so vile towards the Catholic Church? Aren't we called to love thy neighbor as thy self?

Hmmm...

Firstly, how ironic that a Catholic would accuse Protestants of being vile to Catholics.... with the assumption being that Catholics are not and have never been vile to Protestants.

Secondly, as a Catholic surely you can explain this very easily! Isn't the Catholic church THE church of Christ? Doesn't this mean that only Catholics have access to the true church and by inference true teachings of the gospel? Then Catholics should be achieving a higher standard of godliness and not be surprised by othwers who aren't ! Yet here you are wondering about Protestants and seemingly ignorant about the vile things Catholics have done and said! WOW!

'Most' protestants aren't vile against the Catholic Church in real life. At least not in my experience and I'm protestant. As far as the internet, people are vile about everything it seems.

There's a few denominations that are extremely anti-Catholic such as Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, and some non-denominational churches. Calvinists tend to be anti-Catholic. Catholicism and Calvinism do clash as do Arminian denominations and Calvinist denominations. Methodist, Wesylan, Anglican, and Episcopal are some examples of denominations that are Arminian and agree with Jacobus Arminius who developed a theology to counter Calvinism.

False premise. I have yet to see any Protestants being vile against the Catholic church.

Most protestant that i know as a Catholic Christian are not vile to us. Some sects teach their people that we are not Christian-even though what Christianity they have they got from the Catholic Church- and they indoctrinate their people to dispise us as Anti Christ and the Whore of Babylon. Yes, such attitudes are not consistent with claiming to be followers of jesus and His Beatitudes.

They read the Bible, therefore they know that Jesus Christ founded ONE Church, said it was to remain ONE, and promised that ONE Church the fullness of truth. They also know that their unauthorized manmade tradition came into existence by defection from the ONE Church Jesus founded. Therefore they are desperate to show that their defection from His Church was somehow justified because of something bad, bad, bad in the Church they defected from. Which leads to all sorts of crazy stories and accusations, none of which are actually true.

WRONG I RESPECT THEM VERY MUCH...there were sweet nuns who spoke to me each day on my way home from school....such sweet ladies...i know someone who went to their school at that church...How neat having all Christian teachers..
