About metal gear solid...?
I'm about to get this game called mgs the phantom pain and I was thinking how the story will be since I only played 2 and 4 Compared to my knowledge snake is the main protagonist who fights...the other military forces, and tries to stop ultimate weapons. Will I get lost in the story and not know what the hell is going on or is it a stand alone type where I can pick up and piece it together. I wanted to know snakes story and what lies behind his grizzled face. 10 points will be given.

well first off the game isn't about Solid Snake, it's about Big Boss who is the 'father' of Snake and Liquid. It's a sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Peace Walker. If you haven't played either you're likely to be lost.

MGS5 is a prequel to the original games, and in terms of the timline happens after 3, but long before 1, 2 and 4.
So knowledcge of the rest of the story isn't really important.
