A burger is not really a sandwich to me, it's a burger. On a bun. A sandwich is a filling or slices of meat or cheese in between two slices of bread.

The burgers are a subset of sandwiches, meaning they are a type of sandwich. It doesn't go the other way. A sandwich is not a type of burger.

Because a sandwich could be just a slice of cheese or peanut butter and jelly. Calling a sandwich a burger would be wrong!

A burger is NOT a sandwich.

A burger is a hot, main meal.

A sandwich is a cold lunch.

Some dumb, greedy Americans like to heat their sandwich up, but when they do that it is no longer a sandwich, it is a GRILLED sandwich.

Because a "burger" refers to a specific style of sandwich, kinda like a "sub sandwich". It was originally called a "hamburger sandwich" but was shortened down over time.

A burger has a thick slice of meat, like a pattie. A sandwich has a thin slice of meat, like ham.
