How do I get my brother to stop being toxic when he plays video games?
Whenever my brother plays a shooter game, he constantly calls people he plays against 1 of 2 things. If the player is bad, he calls him/her a "n00b." And when he plays against good players, he always calls the people who kill him "hackers." It really annoys me whenever he does this, so how do I get him to stop calling all starter players n00bs, and players who are better than him hackers?

It's much easier to control yourself than to control others. If he knows it upsets you, that's probably why he does it. So don't react at all. But further, decide you just don't care anymore -- that IS within your control. Seriously, words your bro says are not a serious matter unless he's threatening to kill someone.

Shoot, you are probably lucky that's all that comes out (pretty standard terms anyways). People say all kinds of trashy things in competitive gaming. I even surprise myself sometimes with the foul language that comes flying out of my mouth, which is why my mic is always on mute. Anyhow, it sounds like it is already a habit and annoying you is probably the cherry on top. I would suggest just finding your own space, distance, while he is playing video games.

Nothing. Let him continue being an ***hole, and when no one wants to play with him, and he ends up being banned for being an ***hole, maybe he'll learn his lesson.
But probably not.
In the meantime, don't be like your ***hole brother.

Playing games is about competition. Using harsh words are just part of it.

You gotta live with that. Nothing you can do.
