I would say Thomas Hearns beats Duran 8 out of 10 times. Styles make fights period. Hearns was tall and lanky and could hit and that spelled trouble for Duran. Barkley beat Hearns 2 out of 2 and Tommy is more superior against Iran. Go figure Duran defeated Barkley.

If Duran would have been in the shape he was for the 1st Sugar Ray Leonard fight and the shape he was at Lightweight (while being in his 20's), then Duran would have beaten Hearns a couple of times (maybe even 4 out of 10 fights).

The styles matchup was bad for Duran. That's the biggest problem here. Duran showed frustration against Edwin Viruet (at Lightweight). Viruet was a tall, lanky pure boxer with very good footwork. He fainted the crap out of Duran, but Duran adjusted by cranking up his inside fighting. Viruet didn't have any power and was pillow fisted.

Esteban DeJesus also gave Duran problems at Lightweight. DeJesus was a great counter puncher with decent power and very good outside defense. He dropped Duran on his *** in their first fight and defeated Duran. It was because of DeJesus, that Duran evolved to the next level (he wasn't as wild or as impatient in setting up his attacks after that first fight).

Tommy Hearns was like a mixture of both Edwin Viruet and Esteban DeJesus + the added bonus of having one of the most devastating right hands P4P in gloved boxing history. This all spelled trouble for Duran - as he was much shorter, had a much shorter reach, was out of his best weight, was older, and suffered stylistically in the matchup.

Maybe 6 times out of 10. If Duran would just box like he did against Ray Leonard and Barkley, then he could outpoint Hearns.

i say 2 out of 10 no matter what version of Duran shows up Hearns is just to much of a bad match up for him.

Had Duran trained properly and didn't underestimate Hearns

Yes Duran could have won if the fight went longer, Hearns did not do well in later rounds and was subject to being knocked out too.

Hearns would have won 8 of the 10 fights, and won all of them by KO
