How good is the 3.5 ford eco boost engine?
I m going to get a 2013-14 Lincoln MKS soon and I m thinking of getting the 3.5 engine. I ve never owned a turbocharged car before, so I don t know how that will be as far as gas repairs insurance etc.

The naysayers have bee proven wrong as it pertains to the predicted turbocharger holocaust when the Ecoboost V6 first came out. It turns out the turbos hold up just fine. Fuel economy with the Ecoboost is just as bad as a comparable V8 when yo're on the boost though.
As for the carbon build up, it can happen with any gasoline direct injected engine. By design the intake valves don't get sprayed with fuel and the carbon that forms doesn't get washed away. It can happen, but it's not a widespread problem. With that said, the new Gen 2 Ecoboost V6 (2017+) has both port and direct injection to correct this issue.

I'm on my second F150 with the 3.5 eco boost. I have not had any trouble with either one. I had a 2011 and now have a 2015. So far so good.
