It's possible even before his career is done that Gennady cracks Top 15. While most boxers KO percentages drop after stepping up their challenges, Gennady's hasn't. He has continued to KO Top 10 contenders which is something only a select few have done. Because of that impressive feat, he can potentially find himself in the Top 15. If he gets some more key victories (Canelo) and continues to KO worthy opponents the way he has, he will leave quite a mark on the middleweight division. However in this day and age, he would never be able to have the amount of fights and opposition that guys like Hagler, Monzon and Flowers had and because of that he will likely never be rated much higher than 15.

Skill-wise, I think that Golovkin is close or probably will make the top 15.

The problem (as already mentioned) is the lack of A-level competition in the Middleweight division right now. Hagler had the same problem, but at least he had legendary smaller fighters going up in weight and challenging him. GGG does not even have that right now. Andrade versus GGG would be interesting, but Andrade has already stated that he plans to become undisputed at 154Lbs - so you can forget about that idea. GGG's team already reached out to James DeGale at 168Lbs, but there was no reply. So, GGG is in a bind. He has all-time-great skills, but does not have the opportunity that Greb, Monzon, Robinson, Steele, Jones Jr., Burley, Walker, Flowers etc. had. There were other legends and A-level prime fighters that forced those fighters to show their absolute best stuff.

So we have to wait until GGG's career is done, before we evaluate it.

A fighter many boxing historians believe was not only one of the greatest middleweights ever, but Gennedy Golovkin not the middleweight boxer of all time..

IMHO, the middleweight, along with the HW, is the most stacked weight in boxing history. It's hard to fit GGG in there. Top 15 probably, but it's damn early to tell. Here's the list of MW greats ahead of him... In no order, Hagler, Robinson, Greb, Monzon, Bhop, Roy Jones, Stanley Ketchel, La Motta, Burley, Dick Tiger, Basilio, Leonard, Hearns, the list goes on and on. The dilemma Golovkin has right now is LACK OF COMPETITION. Not his fault, yes. But that's where us people base, who he's faced and beaten.

I agree with Jose, in that... SKILL WISE, he is already there. However, its a bit too early to kick somebody out of that club, and put GGG in it. Aside from a very impressive knockout percentage... on paper, what has he done? Who's he really beaten??? ....... Kell Brook, Gabriel Rosado, Curtis Stevens, Macklin, and Murray?!?!?!

    Not a fantastically impressive bunch!

I mean, I think he has the goods! I think MOST people do, but... He needs to do some more impressive things. Like, Manny Pacquiao did! Pacquiao went from fighting at the lowest weight class in existence, to dominating welterweights! That's legendary! Roy Jones captured heavyweight gold, even though he used to fight at middleweight!

If GGG is going to get on that list, and Canelo won't fight him, then he needs to go after BIGGER guys like Kovalev, Adonis Stevenson, Andre Ward. Additionally, he could unify the middleweight belts, be the undisputed Middleweight champ.

I think it´s too early to rank him in the top 15. He still have to fight other middleweights like Danny the miracle man Jacobs and Canelo. I know it´s going to be hard for him to get them in the ring, but he desperately need nore guys like them on his resume. GGG is a killer but people will only remember who he beat. I would like for him to clear out his division then move up. He have been looking impressive lately knocking out everyone in brutal fashion, but he have more to prove like I´ve previously mentioned. I´m still a fan because he been doing everything he was expected to do.

No and he needs to step up and fight better opposition. If he cannot get big fights in the Middleweight division then he should either move down to Middleweight or move up to Super Middleweight.

No. Are you kidding me? Robinson, Monzon, Hagler, B-Hop, Roy Jones JR, Sergio Martinez, Toney, Gene Fullmer to name a few all had way better resumes than GGG.

If he fought Alvarez and won,, then definitely. But as for right now it's hard to say. He's very good, but hasn't fought the best.
