I'm 44 and never been in a serious relationship. Should I even bother trying to meet anyone at this point?

Absolutely you should be trying to meet people, but not in the way you are asking. You should be living an active life, joining clubs, have hobbies that include other people. Join a biking club, a fitness class, join an amateur rocket club, a book club, something.

By simply having interests and being around other people with similar interests, you will make friends and greatly increase the likelihood of meeting a woman that you want to become romantically involved with. But don't make that part your primary focus.
