How to present a jewlery gift to a female who is not your gf.?

I am trying give a gift to a long time friend. I am not sure weather I should leave the gift in its shelf packaging. Or put it in a nicer earings box and give it to her like that. I feel as though leaving it in its packaging would be tacky. I am not sure 0_0

    Listen to your instinct and do what feels right for you. Putting the earrings into a gift box is a lovely gesture.
