Should I keep the docs that are a size smaller than my feet even though them seem comfortable?

I bought a pair of doc martens the other day and they're a size 8 (I'm a size 9). They fit well even though they're a size smaller than what I wear but I'm scared if I wear them they'll start hurting and if I wear them I can't exchange them for a bigger size. They weren't exactly cheap so I don't wanna risk it, any advice?

Extra question: I hear loads of people talking about their docs hurting from the back while breaking them in but when I put mine on they hurt from the front (just under where my toes start. Is that normal? I don't wanna wear them and they don't stop hurting but I can no longer return them.

I would say have them stretch at your local shoe repair shop. it's like breaking them in but without the pain.

ready made shoes are not made to measure for each person , different people have different shaped feet

and baring in mind not both of your feet are exactly the same , you will find that one of them is slightly bigger.

That is way it is advisable you try both shoe on before buying . I use nothing but docs size 9 and some of their size 9s are to small for me. there are shoe last differences in each style .

Return them for a different size. Don't risk it.
