I'll assume you are speaking of the original, the first Woodstock festival in 1969. Because that is what everyone thinks of when you just say "Woodstock".

I say this (not to be a smarkie) but there have been other music festivals with the same name since the initial one in 1969. There was a Woodstock 1999, a Woodstock Jazz Festival, a Woodstock reunion in 1979, and there is a Woodstock festival in Poland.

So, it would be impossible for me to comment on each and every performance. But, yes you are correct, the collective artistic performances of Woodstock 1969, and the statements that they made ARE relevant to current musical trends in America, and throughout the world.

Woodstock 1969 was about peace and love. It was the ultimate statement of the hippie generation. But, even bigger than that, it was the beginning of a new way of thinking. And, even though humans struggle to maintain this way of thinking, if done right, it can be a tool for good in any time period, in any generation, and in any culture.

Need I remind you that there will always be a struggle between inhabitants of this earth. There always has been, and there always will be. Unfortunately.

In some ways, Woodstock 1969 was an awakening of a new state of consciousness. And, no, I'm not referring to the drugs that came along with it. And, enlightenment, and opening peoples' minds to a new and better way of thinking, so that they will treat each other better....that is ALWAYS a good thing that all humanity can benefit from.
