You're still working with the smart phone's native lens and sensor. Smart phones have wide angle lenses. Clip-ons change the focal length. Fisheye is even wider. Telephoto attachments can bring your subject closer instead of using the smart phone's digital "zoom" which is really just cropping. They won't improve the quality, but they could make it worse if they don't have quality optics.

Basically a good way for the makers of such garbage to make money off of people that believe a cell phone can replace a real camera. Some are better than others, but that isn't saying much. Price is not an indication of quality either, as those sold for use on an iPhone will cost more and still be pretty much useless.

WHY would you waste your time with those gadgets that only serve to make money for those selling them to duped individuals who have no idea what they're doing. Really. You'd be better off buying an inexpensive point-and-shoot camera with slightly better sensor and slightly better glass lens. Those cheap add-ons only serve to degrade image quality. You want to call others while on the move? Get a cell 'phone. You want quality images? Get a REAL camera, and don't throw money away on gadgety toys.

Such lenses cannot make "extra quality" in the actual digital image file, but they can give the camera extra versatility in wide-angle and telephoto capabilities. Indeed the optical quality may be degraded by the frontal additions.

Basically, if you want a versatile camera, buy one. Don't expect add-ons to "magic" a phone into a serious camera.

I suppose it will never happen that the general pubic will realize that a freaking PHONE is NOT a real camera, and silly add on "lenses" cannot transform it into one.

Add-on lens adapters always degrade picture quality.
