Put together a gift basket of items that are constantly needed. Things like diapers, baby wipes, baby oil, baby lotion, baby powder, and baby shampoo are constants that are always needed and always need to be purchased as they run out. Getting these things are always a great idea and always appreciated. Then toss in one or two little personal items for the baby, like a toy or some bibs.

You could buy toys or cute little bibs for him. You could also get things like blankets and baby carriers or little things that have his name on them
