He would still be one of the better Defensive-Utility players(players you put in when you need to milk the clock, or make 2-3 stops fast).
His problem in the modern-NBA is that especially early season nobody really plays Defense, which is why he's not playing yet, late season I wouldn't be surprised if a team that needs backcourt D would add Capt. Kirk for a playoff run.
