Would you read a love driven sci-fi?
I'm a new writer - and basically I've been clued in on the fact that I write love driven sci-fi...which people hate?
Basically an example of a sci-fi with romance would be Star Wars - you can removed the love aspect and it wouldn't change the story.
But a love driven fantasy would be more like Pirates of the Caribbean because you can't remove the 'love' and end up with the same story.
I'm almost done writing a story that you can't remove the love story and still end up with a complete book.
My last book, I think you can remove the love story and still end up with a pretty decent book. But it does have romance or love.
so would you read a love driven sci-fi?
Update. I think I decided because of the topic or situation I've thrown these people into that its okay. Because it is sort of the beginning of the apocalypse and you have family and friends trying to survive it together. Zombie Land might have just as "fun" without the love story but I liked it.
Obviously I want to sell books but mostly...I really just want people to read them.
Thanks to everyone that answered - I really appreciate it!

Personally I hate love driven sci fis. I see this awesome idea for a book, but it's clouded by a romance. It drives me nuts and I most likely wouldn't pick up a book like that, but there are people that would. Any time you ask a question around here someone's gonna tell you not to write for anyone but yourself and I'm that person right now. So write what you wanna write not what everyone wants you to write. Trust me it really affects the passion and quality that goes into your book.

To be brutally honest, I HATE love-driven sci-fis. I HATE those YA novels set in futuristic worlds targeted toward teenage girls (which I am) and centered around a generic, cliche romance between a pretty white girl and a pretty white boy but disguised as a action-packed, suspenseful sci-fi. seen so many of those it's gotten to the point where i can easily predict who the love interest is in the first couple pages.
disclaimer: your story may not be like what i described. i'm just expressing my opinion on the ones ive seen before.

I WOULD LOVE IT!! I'm a sucker for sci-fi, and a love driven one would be even better!

No, because I don't like that type of genre.
Why ask this question? If you enjoy writing this type of genre, then you should write the story you want to write.
Never ask strangers if they'll like you're idea...because if we say no, will you stop writing?
Write what your gut tells you to write...no matter what.
Never upset your muse, they have a tendency to disappear on you if you do.
