Do You Have To Take The Air Conditioner Cover Off In Order To Run Your Air Conditioner?
I Had To Order & Actually Build This Cover For Myself.
I DO NOT HAVE THE 1970'S MANUAL STILL WITH ME THANK YOU.
WHAT WOULD YOUR COMMON SENSE ANSWER BE INSTEAD RIGHT NOW?

Check the instructions for your specific make and model.
If the cover is something designed to protect the unit when in storage and would prohibit air flow through the unit, then you would remove it.
If the cover is designed to hold the air filter, protect it during operations, and has vents that allow air flow through it, you would not remoe it.
But as we do not known what air conditioner you have, or what you mean by "cover", the best option is to check the manual. It will tell you. If you do not have the manual,check their web site for it.
