Hearing problems with a cold.?

I've had a cold for the last 3 days and even before that I had my ears checked and the wax in my left ear was hard. (I've been given olive oil drops, but can't take them yet). but today on and off when I speak I sound like a robot. something like one of them voice changers.

Any idea why this might be happening and what I can do to stop it?

Thanks

A cold can cause fluid behind the ears because your nose throat & ears are all connected basically, once your cold clears up your hearing should go back to normal :)
