DOES TWITTER ALWAYS REQUIRE A PHONE NUMBER?

I've tried giving it several different numbers (some valid, some not) I've tried signing in two seperate times

I've tried refreshing, I contacted support and they are no help.

IS the number a specific REQUIREMENT or can I just get away with using my email and if I can...HOW?

It won't let me deactivate the account nor move forward from this nightmare T_T

PLEASE HELP ME.

I have posted this I don't know how many times and have gotten a handful of three comments and they aren't very helpful V_V

    No they don't require a phone number. If they suspend or lock your account, somewhere on their website there is a place where you fill out a form saying why you can't unlock/ un-suspend your account (in this case, you say you can't provide a phone number), and twitter will unlock the account for you. Sorry, I can't quite remember the details, but you DON'T need a phone number, and you can ask them to unlock the account if you need to.

    I assume those three comments were all "Yes."

    So is this one. You don't get an exemption just because you're reluctant to fork over a phone number.
