Boyfriend is distant everytime something goes wrong in his life?

Every time my boyfriend has an issue whether he's mad at his family, about finances, etc. No matter what it is. If it's something heavy on his mind, his attitude changes with me. He will become short n rude and very distant, until he gets over his problem. How do I deal with that in my relationship?

We all have our own ways of dealing with issues. Some people seek help from others for comfort or advice, whilst others, like your boyfriend, prefer to be on their own. When it comes to the latter, some people just can't understand why we don't just talk about it.

I'm also someone whom prefers to step back from people to let myself calm down as I get irritated easily and just want people to leave me alone. It's not that I care about them any less, my friends and family are still my whole world, but it's how I deal with these things.

I'm assuming that it's the same with you boyfriend, and if so, just take a step back and give him time to breathe and calm down on his own, don't push or pressure him into opening up or trying to cheer him up, because it'll only make him more grumpy.

If anything, give him a gentle reminder that you are there for him always, regardless of what has happened, and that you're more than willing to listen if and when he wants to talk about it. Leave it at that and give him the space and time he needs.
