How long does it take for an ear infection to go away?

About 2 weeks ago, i got an ear infection, my ear felt clogged. So me being my dumb self, I stupidly decided to stick a que tip up my ear. My doctor said I must have damaged a blood vessel or something and that is what was causing this swooshing sound I was hearing. He said the ear infection and blood vessel would heal and my hearing would go back to normal. Now the pain and everything else associated with an ear infection is gone, except my ear is still clogged. It's been 2 weeks since it started and I was just wondering how much longer it will last. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

So the doctor never mentioned how to clean your clogged ears?

You can buy Debrox or a similar product at the drug store and follow the directions, putting a few drops into the ear. It fizzes and softens up the wax and it will start running out. Wipe with a tissue or whatever.

Now after the wax is gone, if your ear still feels clogged or painful, get some garlic-mullein ear drops from the vitamin/health food store. They are very soothing and help heal the ear canal.
