Is the Jean Baptiste JB-65 Soprano Saxophone good for an intermediate player?
I ve rented a Jean Baptiste before and it didn t seem to cause me any problems and I never had to get it repaired. I stumbled across this one off eBay with black lacquer for a pretty cheap price and was wondering if it would be a good buy or is the black lacquer would be really cheap and cause problems. I m not looking for a pro sax, just one that will not break on a weekly basis. Here s the link: http://m.ebay.com/itm/79573-Jean-Baptiste-JB-65-BL...

It looks like an OK price for what it is - a cheap, Taiwan-made soprano sax. It's not going to sound or play like a Yamaha or Selmer, but you probably already knew that. Soprano saxes are notorious for being hard to play in tune, and this will probably be a bit harder than a "major" brand soprano to play in tune. Before buying, check with your local repair shop to make sure they'll work on this brand.
