Vince apparently wanted Goldberg to be Goldberg that ended matches quite quickly
He was tired of Lesnar dominating his superstars.
And to get revenge for Lesnar F-5'ing him back in 2013.
Vince knows what he is doing

I think he wanted to shock the WWE Universe. Particularly the "smart" fans. Brock Lesnar has been dominating the whole roster for three years. A lot of people, including myself, assumed Brock Lesnar would win.
Every now and then you have to prove that even smart fans don't know what's going to happen. It reaffirms that at the end of the day, we are only fans.

The Idea was to replicate Bill Goldberg in 1998 when he was running through everyone in short order, this will make Goldberg look credible heading towards the WWE royal rumble. The loss takes nothing away from Lesnar, one loss doesn't take the build from 2013 away. The Beast will return, destroy people and go after Goldberg.

That's because Goldberg had an injury. He injured himself when he was beating Security Guards in previous RAW before Survivor Series.Otherwise The Match would have been longer

This is a controversial finish to be frank. This finish gives WWE an opportunity to stretch this feud longer. A finish like this, I believe is a particularly smart move.

To punish Brock for being a druggie.
