Will facebook ban my account if I correct my age to 18?

Question

I made my facebook account when I was 11 and my mom put her birthdate in. (just realized that this makes me fb'a target demographic, lol.) I am 18 now and want to change my birth year, but I am concerned that since I initially lied about my age that my account will be banned. I have so much data on fb that I don't wanna lose & I actually use facebook regularly so losing my account would be awful.

Surely i'm not the only person my age who main a fb account before they were 13. If you've corrected your age after signing up younger than 13, or know a story of anyone who has, please share your experience! I don't want to be Gen X for the rest of my facebook life, but I don't want to start over from scratch, either.

You won't be banned. Facebook would rather have the correct information.

You need to type in your correct date of birth and then give a reason (from the list). Your best option would be to click on the first alternative: This is my correct birthday. Hope this helps!

I think your account will get banned I'm afraid. By changing the age back to 18 they will figure out that you were not 18 until now and cancel the account as per their terms and conditions.

If doing something would get the account banned, they'd let you know beforehand. I've changed other personal information, which can be done though there's a limit on how often you can do it.

Probably most people has lied about their age on face book.  I doubt they will even notice.
