What fish or shrimp could be put in with my Betta fish?
I'm moving into a dorm for college next year and I am allowed to have a fish tank under 30 gallons. So I currently have a 10 gallon tank that I am cycling. It has an adjustable heater, a sponge filter from an active tank that I'm using to seed it, a plant substrate and some live plants and smooth wood. I'm supplementing the water with liquid co2 every time I clean and I have a T5 light for the top for the plants.
My goal, once this is cycled, is to get a pretty male Betta that I can keep in my dorm room. My question is about algae. The last time I had a planted tank I had problems keeping up with the algae. What tank mates can I add that will eat the algae and what can I do to prevent as much as possible? Also any tips for keeping my Betta healthy?

Ghost shrimp are hardy, you can probably get a couple since they're small and don't really have much of a minimum space rule (as long as it's not super unreasonably tiny.) this is because they produce so little waste that they can be kept in larger quantities than fish. I also suggest nerite snails, they are pretty and don't breed in freshwater.
Or even a single orange dwarf CPO crayfish, they are cool!
