If calling the police and/or animal control didn't work then consider finding a personal injury attorney and initiating legal action against the dogs' owner (if known). If they are stray or wild dogs then calling animal control, the local humane society, or even the a state law enforcement agency such as the department of fish and game is your only legal means of removing them. You have a right to defend yourself on your property but don't go out looking for the dogs. Consider setting humane traps or research methods to keep the dogs away from your property. Remember, if you kill the dogs on public property and they turn out to be escaped pets or non-aggressive you could face civil and/or criminal charges.
I suggest consulting your local animal control agency (go down there if you have to) to deal with the dogs, a lawyer to deal with your injuries and your deceased dog, and a veterinarian to figure out methods to keep the dogs from attacking/ returning to your property.
As a last resort feel free to use any means necessary to protect yourself. Your life is worth far more than any three dogs in the world.
Also I think you have filed your answer under the wrong category.

You have a range of options.
-This is squarely within animal control's lane. If they are declining to assist I would go up the chain. If you're in a city they work for the mayor, country then the county commissioners. Those are all elected jobs and they are usually responsive to voters. Tell them you will loudly broadcast their failures if they do not perform which may include letters to the editor, posts on town blogs, interviews on local radio, availing yourself to the political rival... but you must be factual. Don't get in trouble with slander or libel.
-You should have notified the dog owners, if known, in writing, sent certified return receipt requested to prove receipt and that they were made aware of the issue. That helps your case if they continue to let the dogs run free.
-You have a civil case for the loss of your dog and for the "attacks" against you. In most jurisdictions a person is liable after they are aware their dog has "known dangerous propensities", which they would after your dog was killed. Perhaps a tort attorney would take your case on commission - he'll get 30% of any judgment and all expenses. Most have a free initial consultation to see how good your facts are. They are looking for "deep pockets" - does the dog owner have assets? If the dogs belong to poor trash with no assets, it isn't worth suing. Can't get blood from a turnip.
-You can kill his dogs. You have an inherent right of self defense using a reasonable prudent person standard: Would the average person, similarly situated, fear imminent serious bodily injury or death in your situation? If you use firearms, there may be an issue if you discharge within city limits.
Many people soak hamburger balls in anti freeze and leave them out. About 5 tablespoons will kill a medium size dog. The poison is sweet and the meat aroma lures them to it. The problem is it is not discriminatory like shooting is - you may kill raccoons, cats, other non hostile dogs...
Understand that killing their dogs may escalate the situation. There was a period of time where the number one motive for murder in Tennessee was killing those who had killed your coonhounds.

The way I see it if the police and animal control wont help then you have to take matters into your own hands.
The dogs have to be put down, thats the bottom line, animals cant be allowed to go around and kill peoples pets and attack people and be allowed to live. I would suggest buying some poison, anti-freeze is very poisonous and rat poison. Anti-freeze is good because animals like the taste of it so it shouldnt be hard to do, maybe put a bowl of it outside. Or maybe buy some meat or something else you think they might eat and then lace it with anti freeze and set it out for them. That may sound harsh but like i said, you already took the appropriate measures by calling the police and animal control, if they wont help you then you just have to defend yourself by taking the initiative, if the police and animal control wont help you, then no one will. Just make sure if you set out some anti freeze that you watch it to make sure you dont accidentally poison someone elses animals, just the 3 dogs that are causing problems.

Yet another reason why we should be able to own guns. Call the police, animal control, and whoever owns the dogs and inform them of the problem. If it continues and no one does anything, then go buy yourself a Browning BPS 12 Gauge Pump-Action shotgun to take care of the problem yourself. At close range, it's more than capable of taking down 3 dogs.

CALL the police and animal control. That dog needs to be put down. In fact, it shouldve already been put down when it killed your dog. And if that didnt work, you should have at least gotten A LOT of money from a lawsuit. All in all, you NEED to do something immediately

Don't kill the dog. That is a stupid decision. Contact the owner, to see if you two can come to some sort of an agreement. If you can't work something out, call animal control.

One time my dog got out and my neighbor ran over to him and smacked him square in the eye with a metal bat. It was completely unnecessary but I had to give him props for takin matters into his own hands. You may not be armed, but I bet you have a nice steel bat laying around don't you. Or wood, I've heard wood is more lethal. Good luck. You'll get the job done.
