Anyone else think that Days of our Lives made a big mistake in killing off Bo?

I'm always somewhat dismayed by the deaths of characters who aren't really all that old. Bo, maybe in his late 50's now, was still far too young, and the only reason why it was perhaps necessary was that Peter Reckell made it clear that he would not return under any circumstance. They tried a re-cast once and while it was fairly successful, there were issues behind the scenes. Bo and Hope had not run their course, and it would be nice to see them transition into Doug and Julie down the road, although not as shrill as what Julie's become thanks to wretched writing.

Yes, Peter Reckell was a vet of the show. This show has done all their vets wrong. See Joseph Gallison, John Clarke, Matthew Ashford, and now Peter Reckell. I like DAYS because of its history but the new characters really do nothing for me. I want to see what some old favorites have been up to and hopefully they will all uncover that Bo has been alive all this time.

i was furious im like what the hell? bo didnt have to die. it was so hard watching him die . i cried the rest of the day. i can remember when they started out. i cant stomach hope being with someone else. 30 plus years bo and hope were together through thick and thin. im still furious. hope belong with bo not anyone else. to answer your question, i say yes big time. im sure the network got hate mail like crazy.

Yes but Peter Reckell wanted to leave. I miss him and Hope together...Not the same since he left.

Yes and no. Peter Reckell did not renew his contract for the following year, after he died on the show. He left the show, to spend more time with his family. and to venture down new avenues, of entertainment. Although, I wish he was still on.

Well, they didn't really have a choice since he wanted to leave the show.

Yes, that's why I quit watching that soap.
