Can I get some quick opinions about my book cover?

I've been playing with my cover and I think it looks good. I'd love some opinions though. I didn't want to post the photo here because questions can't be deleted. But I can delete the source if I want.

Here is my cover:

Update:

I didn't create the image. I bought it. I have permission to use it up until 500,000 sales.

I actually wanted to just put this on the back: When a mummified cavewoman is found deep in the permafrost of Siberia, an ancient virus is released that soon evolves half of mankind into vicious monsters that feed on anything that moves. A group of prisoners, guards, and survivors choose a prison as their best hope of surviving the apocalypse. This is their story.

That's an excellent image. If you made it yourself, you could work as an artist or illustrator. If you "borrowed" it from a website, be prepared to be sued for copyright infringement if your book ever becomes big enough for the image's creator to notice it.

I'm not trying to be mean, but your grammar is terrible. People don't buy books when the blurb has multiple errors in it.

    1. The Missing Link is not an appositive phrase. It is the object of dubbed.

Elvis was dubbed the King. The King is the object of dubbed.

Elvis, the King of Rock and Roll, became a legend. "Dubbed the King" is an appositive phrase that gets set off by commas.

What's an easy way to tell? An appositive phrase can replace the base phrase. You could write:

    Elvis became a legend.

The King of Rock and Roll became a legend.

"She'd be killed" not "she's be killed".

Shopping Spree is not a proper noun. It should not be capitalized.

She went on a shopping spree to avoid being the leader of humankind? That's something that a ten year old would write, and nobody over the age of 10 will think it is a sign of a good story.

The dark moment is when her son is killed, and this is resolved by her just getting over her grief? That's a painfully shallow story conflict.

The front cover is great. The back cover is awful.

To be honest.... If I was in a bookstore I would never pick it up unless I knew it was a good book. I feel like the fonts chosen and picture look a little amateur and can be worked on a bit. But at the end, it's up to you!
