Fitbit Charge 2 calorie burner inaccurate?

I recently bought a fitbit to help me keep track of my diet and exercise plan but I've noticed the calories I'm burning are rather high. I'm 21 years old and weigh about 270 so yes, I do think I burn calories faster when exercise compared to the average person but it's telling me I burn roughly 3,000 to 4,000 calories a day. Due to my nearby gym being closed for renovations I haven't even been working but I do work and at work I walk roughly 6 miles a day, but even then 3,000 to 4,000 calories being burned seems impossible and if that's the case I wouldn't be as big as I am in the first place so is there something that I may be doing wrong or maybe need to adjust through the app?

They are actuallly fairly accurate, it is entirely possible at your weight and activity level you are burning 3000-4000 calories per day, my husband thought his was being too generous but discovered that by eating 1000 per day less than it said he was burning he did indeed lose the expected 2 pound per week.

You must update it as you lose weight though, you will burn less then and it is using your stats to provide an accuarate burn amount along with your heart rate of course.

It might look like a lot but as I said it is entirely possible, I had to sell mine because I have anorexia and it became unhealthy and sure enough if I exercised and had a 2000 calorie burn, only ate 1000 per day I too lost average 2 pounds per week.

Just keep it updated with your current weight and height and it will remain accurate, if you feel it is being too generous simply adjust your intake a bit and see how your body responds, fitness bands are great and can also be very motivating but there is no better calculator than your own body when it comes to adjusting your calorie needs.

Obese people burn more calories throughout the day because they have abnormally large numbers of fat cells.
