Wii games using computer?
So, I was talking to my friend, telling him how I had this awesome wii game that I really wanted to play but my brother took my console so I couldn't play and I was just left with the disk of the game. Anyway, my friend said that the game would work on my PC but I have a strong feeling that's not right...lol...it just doesn't sound right so I decided to ask on here.

While it's possible to play Wii titles on your PC, you will need a fairly powerful 64-bit PC to pull it off. If you can run GTA V on your PC at reasonable speeds (30 fps or higher on default settings or better), you're probably OK.
Dolphin ( http://www.dolphin-emu.org/ ) is the most well known Gamecube / Wii emulator online as it has a pretty high compatibility rating (~95% working... although it's playable rating is closer to ~85%). Assuming the game doesn't require any motion controls, you're pretty much set. Although you can your bases with a Bluetooth adapter (to connect an actual Wiimote to your PC), A wireless sensor bar & Glovepie for a more accurate experience.
Dolphin ideally wants to use ISO's of game discs for performance purposes, since most computers nowadays are not including an optical drive (like a DVD-ROM, which the Wii game discs are based on) as standard equipment. However, you can find tools to make your own game ISO's & even WBFS (Wii Back-up File System) format... which is essentially a "scrubbed ISO" (an ISO that removes all the "garbage data", leaving just the working game code intact) from your computer or a modded Wii.
I'm not going to get into the legal mumbo-jumbo (with copyrights & fair use policy... most of us know the drill & the pitfalls), but it IS possible to do so & even crank out HD quality graphics (720p & 1080p. 4K is theoretically possible), depending on your PC's specs.
Hope this helps!

There's an emulator of the GameCube/Wii called Dolphin that plays most games for those consoles, if your computer is powerful enough. Some game work better than others, especially when it comes to mapping to PC-type controls.

Nope! Your PC will not read the disc, and even if it could it would not understand the code it's written in or interface with the required controllers!
