What is a good brand for inking comics?
I want to buy a gift for my friend who's an aspiring artist, as far as I know she draws with a pencil and then inks it in with a common pen(like one you can find in Walmart).

I use the Pilot Precise V-Fine, it's a rollerball pen you can get at Walmart in the office supply section, they sell them in the red packaging at 2 pens for $4. It's a good pen, has nice solid black ink, the ink is waterproof so it won't smear when dry, and I love them. Get her two or three packs of them.
Otherwise you can check an art store for Itoya brand ink pens, they run $2.19 each. They come in the fine point lines and thicker, going up to quite a wide line. Another good brand is Uniball VISION - fine. Though one of those pens had the ink start clumping up.
There's a lot of good fine lined pens for the $2 range.
Have you asked her if she's tried Mini-Comics? You make them on 2 pages of paper, they're photocopied double sided to make one comic book you fold and staple, with 8 pages. The template is available as a 2 page PDF you can print out online, it's pretty famous. Here's the link.

It shows how you turn each page so it gives a completed comic for you. I gave it a try with some of my own drawings and did up four mini comics (it was a blask!) which i give out free every time I ship an art order out. Print those for her and tell her to have some fun with designing her own mini-comics.
