Is it correct that religions could not unite us, but divided the humanity?

Actually religions had been established to give right guiance to the man, but in due course, thee religions have divided the man and now most of our wars are based on religions

    Well, that's simply not true - most wars have nothing to do with religion. If you look up an encyclopedia of military history, you will find that less than 10% of all military conflicts involved religion in any way, and of those military conflicts that did involve religion, most of those only superficially involved religion, and were not based on religion.

    Not only that, but the vast majority of religions coexist peacefully all over the world. Look at the United States, for example - we are one of the most religious countries in the developed world, and we have one of the most diverse religious populations of any nation. But despite that, the vast majority of Americans of all religions coexist peacefully.

    Meanwhile, if you look at nations controlled by regimes who officially opposed religious belief, they are the most bloody and barbaric regimes in history. In the 20th century alone, militantly secular regimes slaughtered an estimated 180 million people, which is 180 times the number of people killed in all nine crusades, and more than 3000 times more people than died in all four inquisitions and the witch trials in Europe over a period of more than four centuries.

    I don't know about the unite, divide part, but most wars are not caused by religion. That's a too simplistic view.

    Truth always unites and divides. Go to the bank with your figure and they will tell you if it is true or a lie. No difference. There is only one true religion and only one true church of Christ.

    the french revolution wasn't based on religion. neither was the revolutionary war. neither was the war of 1812. neither was the civil war. neither was ww1. neither was ww2. neither was korean war. neither was vietnam war. The US going into Iraq/Afghanistan was based on politics and oil. Period.

    I'm so sick of that smug, atheistic lie. If anything, more people have been killed by irreligious and godless communistic regimes in the past century -- hundreds of millions of people died.

    Not really.

    ++ Wars ++

    Historians Charles Phillips and Alan Axelrod in their Encyclopedia of Wars (2004) analyzed 1,763 wars waged from circa 8000 BCE to 2003 CE. They determined only 123 wars were religious in nature and 66 of those were waged in the name of Islam, leaving, in the last 10,000 years, only 57 (3.23%) fought for all other religions combined. http://www.amazon.com/Encyclopedia-Wars-Volume-Lib...

    ++ Atheism ++

    Consider the alternative, the largest Atheist experiments in history:

    • The Soviet Union - 20-60 million people killed

    .......• 20 million people killed just under Stalin

    • Communist China - over 40 million people killed

    • Cambodia - over one million people killed

    • Bulgaria - 50,000 to 100,000 people killed

    • East Germany - 80,000 to 100,000 people killed

    • Romania - 60,000 to 300,000 people killed

    • North Korea - 710,000 to 3,500,000 people killed

    • Vietnam - 50,000 to 172,000 people killed
