earth science question about insolation?
okay. so we're learning about how june recieves the most radiation but july is still hotter and december gets the least but january is still colder. i understand the june july part but if january is getting more insolation than december shouldnt it be warmer? im confused can someone explain it to me
didnt mean to write radiation, but u know what i mean..

Solar radiation is not the sole determinant of surface temperature. That is a matter of climate, and weather, depending upon where you are. Winds and ocean currents are what really matter, constantly transferring heat around the globe. And the level of solar radiation (nothing wrong with that word, by the say) does not have an instant effect, like switching on a heater. It takes time for increasing radiation to warm up the earth, and time for the earth to cool down when radiation goes down.
