Videos from other sources work just fine, but Thursday the youtube ones just went 'blackscreen'. Likewise with the youtube 'fix' which was, of course, a youtube video!

Issue was specific to FireFox and a specific add-on called Yesscript add-on that blocks unwanted java prompts and youtube was in the blacklist, once removed issue was resolved.
