What are the benefits of being a local musician vs an international musician?

    Well, given that few, very few, people are actually at the performance level that would permit them to work as a musician at an international level, the question is essentially moot. If you're good enough to play those kind of stages, go for it!

    But, if you mean what are the advantages to playing strictly local gigs as opposed to going on the road it basically comes down to more time at home with family, friends, etc, but you likely won't make music your sole livelihood if you remain local. I've never been a road musician, but the people I've known who were always talk about it in a love/hate sort of way. Either way you have to love playing because chances are you won't ever get rich or famous at it.
