Is London a nice place to live?

Im just wondering because it's been my dream to live in the city of London and wanted to ask people who live there how it is there? Please tell me. It it expensive, are the people nice, is it hard to find a job. And of course, do you like it there? And how is the night life there?

London can be a great place to live and it can be a lonely place to live. You say City of London - It depends on whether you mean Greater London or the City (which is the financial district).

In the financial district, a studio flat can cost close to £2000 a month.

In Greater London (Where I used to live t - 8 miles from the Centre), a studio flat can cost from £750 per month.

It is very expensive to live there.

On top of that, you will need to add in the cost of transport. A months travel pass zone 1 only will cost £126.80 per month.

Zones 1 - 6 costs £231.20 per month. The further you live out, the longer it takes to get into the centre. For the 8 miles I travelled (zone 3), it used to take 45 - 55 minutes via bus and tube.

As for jobs, it all depends on what you do. I am sure there are many to be had in cafes and bars, but these will not pay much more than minimum wage - which will not cover living expenses.

In the area you live, you might get to know locals who can be lovely. In the centre, people are generally in a hurry or tourists and people tend to keep themselves to themselves.

On the good side, there is almost everything you could ever need there. On the downside, you need a good job paying a lot of money to be able to afford the lifestyle.
