If a roofer who is working on my house is insured am I protected against any falls?

    Speaking as a Californian subject to our rules, if the job costs more than $500 the contractor would have to be licensed and insured. In any case you could insist on not hiring someone who didn't have insurance.

    His insurance has no connection whatsoever to your homeowner's insurance. How are we supposed to know whether your insurance is current?

    yes.... even if a worker fell they couldnt sue you (it would fall under workmans comp)
