Floring. Livingroom meets kitchen. Black fronts in kitchen. Was thinking chess black and white floor. Would this look good with light oak?

I think it would look good, but it would be terribly difficult to keep clean. White shows dirt easiest, and dust/animal fur shows up obviously against black. Better to go with a moderate tone for ease of maintenance. I had a white kitchen floor for years and while it was beautiful, it was too much work to keep pristine. Now I have a slate colored vinyl (blue, grey, and taupe tones) and not only does it never look dirty, but everyone says it's the best thing about our kitchen!
