Churches as political centers? and still be tax exempt? Considering some of the TV preachers does this sound reasonable?

Paula White is the spiritual advisor to the president. She is a pentecostal Christian televangelist senior pastor of "new Destiny Christian center" They preach the prosperity gospel which brings in millions of dollars every week. Just like the other televangelists they are some billionaires all from the public's money. Contributed for the poor and starving children in Africa. Which not one penny ever got over there.

All the money in religious organizations would not only pay off the national debt, but shore up social security and medicare and medicaid for many years to come. Wouldn't it be better to do those things with the public's money that was contributed to help others. Also, it is all tax free.

The government has, on several occasions, stated that the tax-free status of a church is based on that entity focusing on religious worship and religious education and that the tax-free status does not include promoting and fund raising for political candidates. That has been made clear so the notion that this deceptive means of taking advantage of the tax-free status of the church is “approved by the government” is also a deception. Some Christians have a long history of attempting to associate the church with business transactions as well as many other things that have zero connection with religion but take advantage of the churches tax-free status. The same technique is used to justify many if not all preferences of the church that have no connection to religion by falsely associating those preferences as favorable to God and falsely associating opposing positions as taking the side of the devil. The technique is ridiculously easy to sell among people who fear being ostracized by the church for even minimally scrutinizing church supported positions. The monumental wealth accumulated by many evangelical ministers as tax exempt because of their connection to the church is laughable to all but their literally God fearing constituents of the church. The reaction of most of the rest of us is WTF!

Truthfully its rarely been used anyway, more a safeguard than a sword.

Of course this is done with the aim of getting churches to overlook his slimy path and offer their seal of approval in his position. I'm not sure the day has come when I want my minister to tell me he approves of a pussygrabber even though said pussygrabber is agains abortion. I can see people pulling away from God as they disagree with the priests interpretation of what Jesus will overlook in defense of one action.

No, that is something we don't need. I believe that to be a violation of the First Amendment which holds sacred the separation of church and state. Pretty sure he won't be able to get that through and, if he does, it will be challenged and defeated in the courts.
