How do the number of carbons affect the direction of hydrogen's p-orbitals?

If I have 3 carbons with 2 hydrogens at each end, and then another molecule with 4 carbons and 2 hydrogens at each end, how do the number of carbons affect the direction (x,y,z) of the hydrogen's p-orbitals?

Hydrogen does not use p orbitals.
