That's not always true - but I've had it said to me before several times over the years by straight friends. More than one have even said they wished they were gay - however, sexual orientation is just as immutable for gay men as for straight ones and visa versa.
I'm sorry that you have had a lousy time with some women. I promise you, there are some very caring and decent ones, I know some.
