Christians who say there's no afterlife: how do you interpret the "Parable of The Unmerciful Servant" in Matthew 18, especially verses...?

34 & 35, where Jesus says, "...his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured...this is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive".

When will this torture happen? Or is it figurative? If figurative, then what does it mean?

Personally I've never met - or even heard of - a Christian who says that there is no afterlife.

That seems to directly contradict Jesus' explicit teachings.

  • The torture is internal and begins while still living. It is the gnawing nagging thought of what was done that just grows and grows from a molehill into a mountain. These are the "mountains" that Jesus said we could move. Have you ever suffered the torture of thinking about what you should have done? Then you must forgive yourself. Have you ever been tortured by the thought of what somebody has done to you? Then you must forgive them.

What Christians say there is no afterlife? Thats a new one on me and I thought I had studied with all of them.

Jesus told the man who died next to Him "Today you will be with me in paradise." If we believe in Jesus we believe in an afterlife.

what kind of Christians says there is no afterlife, then how does Jesus resurrect and where is he then?

Then you must believe he never resurrected which means you aren't much of a Christian.

religious fairy tales can mean whatever you like...but, just so you know, you can pretend hell is real and pretend billions of people get tortured for eternity, if that's what gets your d!ck stiff...
