When should I wrap up an injured hand?

Two days ago, I woke up and started about my day... only to notice that my hand, kind of around the base of the thumb, was a little sore when I used it. I went to work... remained puzzled about the dull pain but carried on with work.

The next morning (yesterday), I woke up and that minor pain had become uncomfortable:: to the extent that I didn't want to even move my thumb at all. opening doors or jars, turning my keys in the ignition:: very simple tasks:: we (and still are) are painful. Sometimes a duller pain occurs in my forearm and wrist.

Yesterday afternoon, I wrapped my thumb (hand and wrist) in an ace bandage making sure my thumb was secure against the side of my hand. This pain is unexplainable to me:: I have no idea where it came from. I'm a healthy 26 year old female.

Any advice would help... the ace bandage doesn't seem to help.

Are you texting a lot, doing any kind of crafts, this can cause inflamation on the bone at the base of the thumb.

Here in the Uk we can buy Ibroprufen cream, that works well for me, but whatever repetitive movement you are doing, stop it.

Repetitive movement injury. What are you doing with your thumb?
