Is it safe for me to quit drinking?

I'm 23 years old and for the past 2 years I've been quite the drinker being in college like 25 drinks a week! And i want to detox and cut down and quit it all together however I heard this can be unsafe

    AA works!

    The answer to if you need detox is not something you can find on the internet. Drinking buddies are not the best source of valid information either.

    If you are not physically addicted to alcohol, detox is not needed.

    My opinion is that more then likely you are not physically addicted to it yet. The operative word is "yet". Emotional dependency is a totally different issue. This compulsion eventually can lead to both. Which is why I suggest going to an AA meeting (open preferred) and seeking help from some one who does the program.

    Stopping drinking is only part of the problem. The hard part is putting something in to take it's place that does not do more harm.
