How is it that the United States Military can't afford to give every Infantryman a SCAR?

We spend more than any other country on our military, we're supposed to have the best, most advanced military, but somehow we can't afford to give everyone a SCAR Heavy? What's the problem?

The problem is AMMO. Good grief, back in 2001 when we started with Iraq and Afghanistan we could not produce enough of our own 223 ammo and ended up having to buy it from Israel. Right now our few military factories are making 223 as fast as they can, they do not have time to switch over to the 308. All of the 308 we have we are buying from civilian companies.

we talk a lot of crap about giving our men the best.........but if you talk to the guys in the field......they could tell you stories about the sheer crap they're given to work with. Most gov't contracts are LOW BID contracts....meaning we buy the cheapest, crappiest stuff on the market for the lowest price. We do NOT give our people the BEST, by any stretch of the immagination.

Because the M-16/M-4 works fine for what we train for.

Sorry your CoD makes a SCAR more sexy than it really is

Why would we give every infantryman a DMR? Because that is all the SCAR-H is used for.

FYI, the few SOF guys I talked to in Iraq that used them, absolutely HATED the SCAR.

We are getting there but it's still close but no Scar.
