Five years ago I asked who would be boxings top 5 pound for pound today. What do you think about how your predictions turned out?

I gave my best answer to Teodor who predicted:

1. Andre Ward

2. Nonito Donaire

3. Adrien Broner

4. Abner Mares

5. Canelo Alvarez

Possibles: Gary Russell, Gennady Golovkin, Mickey Garcia, Danny Garcia,

N.B. I like Yuri Gamboa and Guillermo Rigondeux but they may be too old by that ti

First of all.... Very cool question! And, its is interesting that you (5 years later) followed up on this question!

I did NOT answer your original question.... but, I think its funny that nearly everyone that did, listed Nonito Donaire and Adrian Broner.

My mom always said... "Hindsight is always 20/20, and foresight is basically blind."

Andre Ward and Canelo Alvarez were right answers though! And, two out of five isn't so bad.

Five years ago... Nobody had much of a radar on GGG, Kovalev, Roman Gonzales, or Terrance Crawford.

If I would have answered you question five years ago, I would have listed GUILLERMO RIGONDEAUX, and I would NOT have listed NONITO DONAIRE. In fact, when they fought, I won $250.00 from betting against my friend, after we argued in the barber shop the previous day! I always thought Donaire was overrated... especially five years ago. He had been fighting guys WAY smaller than him naturally, and his only real weapon was that left hook. Once he started fighting guys his own size, he wasn't quite all that. I think everybody wanted him to be like the second coming of Pacquiao... which is funny, because five years later... Pacquiao is far closer to making the top ten pound-for-pound than Donaire is. The sad truth is... we may NEVER see another Pacquiao again, and FOR SURE it wasn't Donaire!

I might have picked Broner before Maidana mauled him, I'm not sure. But... OF COURSE it is EASY for me to say all this now, And, as I didn't answer your original question five years ago, I can talk a lot of smack, with no proof. So... I'll give you my prediction for the top five for the next five years, and HOPE you remember my list five years from today...

    1. Terrance Crawford

    2. Errol Spence

    3. Canelo Alvarez

    4. Vasyl Lomachenko

    5. Roman Gonzales

I Love triple G, but he'll be forty in five years, I don't know if he can last that long. Andre Ward will be 38, which is a lot because I think he has already started to fade. SergeyKovalev will also be 38, and while I think he MIGHT last longer than Ward, I don't think he's a safe enough bet. Guillermo Rigondeux will definately be too old. I imagine Pacquiao and Mayweather will actually be retired for real. I was very tempted to put Mikey Garcia up there, but not confident enough to put him above those who I already listed.
