Sounds like they have plans to continue support into 2018.
After that, we don't know. There may be a new handheld to take it over, or they may just have the Switch be the replacement in addition to replacing the Wii U.

Reggie is a yes man so he'll say just about anything as long as it makes Nintendo sound good. He's kind the ostrich who buries his head in the sand because he thinks that as long as he doesn't see it then nothing will happen. He's got his head buried so deep inside his colon that he can't see the truth.
If people are so excited about 3D then why haven't 3D tv or movies caught on. I had a 3D tv and 3D was interesting but it's not something that would get me overly excited.
The sales number seems to indicate that the 3ds isn't that successful for a handheld. It has sold less than half of the ds. True that ds has been around longer but 3ds sales aren't exactly skyrocketing right now.
