Is this a Good Reason for enlisting in Marine corps?
I am a 17 year old guy almost ready to live out a new world.
My reasons for enlisting is complicated. I want to join to serve my country and have a reputation as a soldier (its been something i always was passionate about since i was a kid.) When i started dating this girl for 2 years, during that time, she preety much discouraged me from joining because she wanted to be with me as much as i did. So i being the "in-love" idiot decided to drop the idea of my sense of militarism and concentrated on running my own business (took entrepreneurship/leadership classes, and did extremely well in them, as far as in competing in FBLA). I always felt interested in leadership positions, and with that came a sense of control and power, this affected my relationship.she broke up with me for terrible reasons (we both hated each other deeply afterwards and tried to hurt one another using out exs, ironically her ex is a marine, which makes me despise her even more).
I overall wanted to join the marine corps and do my time there as its something ive always been directing towards to. But now im not sure if its because of my ex i want to go. My sense of militarism came back and its more important to me than ever. She blocked me so i have no way of talking to her until a few days where we argued and she blocked me again. My other option was to go to a military college or do ROTC in my state University and go in as an army officer. What are your thoughts on the whole matter?

OP,
Don't be so hard on yourself. You are young, so have fun dating.
Secondly, the military does not have a monopoly on the word "serve." You can serve in ANY job, project, volunteer effort, or interaction.
Many people get a 2nd lieutenant commission AFTER graduating college, but I hardly see the point in this. You've already done college. Why join the army? Many of those people did not prepare in college and took classes that are not marketable (e.g., social sciences). These people represent a glut of military officers that has lowered intelligence standards. From a study (see source in comments):
Officers are actually less educated today than officers of the past. For example, 41% of new Marine officers in 2014 would not have met the intelligence standards demanded of officers in World War II.
"In this paper, we show that the quality of officers in the Marines, as measured by scores on the General Classification Test (GCT), a test that all officers take, has steadily and significantly declined since 1980.[6]"
I suggest people map out their education. GET A MARKETABLE SKILL. Don't waste your time with silly "discipline training" and the many military hazards.
The big X factor is the risk of the military. You might deploy. You might be in combat. There are also those other things I mentioned that are higher for vets than civilians: PTSD, LEGAL drug use, smoking, domestic abuse, divorce, suicide, compulsive sexual disorder, etc. If you'd like more information on this aspect, then please check the comments for my expanded answer. It's a Yahoo*Best*Answer.

Join the Army if you want to be a Soldier. Next, stop being a weakling and develop a backbone. You don't even know if you qualify yet. Leadership is not only about control and power. The highest levels are transformational. You are talking about positional leadership and imposed, a lower level of leadership. You going and trying to hurt one another indicates you would be bad business leading subordinates. I would not be shocked if you set them up for failure. You can't even figure out why you want to join. If you are concerned about blocking you should focus on an entry level McDonalds job, get your life together and in a few years figure it all out. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

Never base your goals and dreams on a other person's opinion. And never date someone who doesn't support your goals and dreams. Someone who truly loves and supports you does not hold you back for their own selfish reasons. YOU block HER, and then go after your goals.
